What the industry is saying about the Effluent WoF system
“There’s been a big shift in farmer attitudes to effluent management, and the WoF has helped remove that regulatory fear when farmers want to determine how effective their system really is.”

“I have peace of mind at night knowing we have arrived at something that is compliant, sustainable, and is helping us earn a premium for our milk supply.”

Getting farmer feedback during the development of the Effluent WOF programme proved invaluable in fine tuning the assessment process. Farmer input helped to make it as insightful and practical as possible, covering the entire effluent system.

Many farmers have been upgrading their effluent system over the last few years. Getting it assessed by an independent expert to see if it meets the grade gives them peace of mind.

The WOF process was well worth the money spent on it, given the significant capital involved in getting effluent systems right.

A WOF assessor will look at the farm’s complete effluent infrastructure. They will point out areas of risk and suggest practical actions a farmer can take to ensure their system is capable of being compliant 365 days a year.

You need advice that has your best interests at heart, that enables you to make choices that best suit your system, not a certain piece of equipment or process.

Given the potential liability of a non-compliant effluent system why wouldn’t you get this done? I think it is a very good idea, particularly from a purchaser’s point of view. If I was buying a dairy unit I would get one done.

Farmers that are planning an upgrade and are not sure which parts of the system need addressing will find it very useful talking to an independent expert.

An Assessment provides a clear, independent outline of how compliant the system is today, and a roadmap of what needs to be done. It's not all negative either, the process indentifies the strengths of the existing system along with areas needing improvement.

If you are buying or selling a farm, if you are a sharemilker moving onto a new property or part of a group owning a farm, it makes sense to call in a WOF assessor to understand how well the effluent system is performing.

The WOF process was to get an understanding of what we needed to do to maintain best practice, and enable us to budget on what we would need to spend over the next four years, before our consent was up.

A WOF assessment helps bring a ‘no surprises’ solution to farm purchases. Getting an assessment done means someone buying a farm won’t get caught out with an unplanned effluent upgrade bill.
